Hello from 2022

Well friends, it’s been over 2 years since we posted here. Covid time is weird, and it didn’t feel like we had much to say for a while. We were shifting into managing the space, dealing with the pandemic, and waiting until such a time as we could open up. We had a soft opening Spring of 2021, and then a few wild and beautiful months in the fall of 2021 before Omicron. We kicked off our monthly poetry and performance series Interrupted by Trains (as of right now every 3rd Saturday of the month except January and June), our 1st Sunday of the month Art Bazaar and more. We’ve been honored to host many benefits, dance parties, workshops, and teach-ins over the course of the last year. We’ll be better about updating here going forward.

We formally started our non-profit wing, The Splinter Art and Community Fund spring of 2021, and while it was a slow roll out, 2022 has exploded. We’re thrilled to be fiscally sponsoring some amazing projects, such as the Tucson Alliance for Housing Justice, Tucson Eviction Defense, The People’s Theater, Queer/Trans Youth Summer Soccer, LuxxArte, and a few others in the works. Splinter has been working hard to build in some infrastructure, create our equitable governing structure, make our space more accessible and work on accessibility in general, and build out a membership model. More to come on all these things.

In the meantime, please follow us on all the social medias for more regular updates, photos, and upcoming event info.

We’re grateful to all of our funders, supporters, and artistic minds who believe in this vision and what we’re doing.

Thinking of you,

Splinter Crew
