SUMMARY:it's a prideteenth celebration!
DESCRIPTION:Hey you. Yes\, you. Everybody! \nJoin us in celebrating PRIDETEENTH (Juneteenth during pride month or\, rather pride celebration in Juneteenth month???) \nAnyway\, we welcome everyone to this cute little movie night! 🍿 \nwe’ll be popping popcorn and\, please feel free to bring your own snacks \nyou already know that the bar will be open \nset in the 90’s\, Cheryl Dunye’s Black as fck and Queer as hell film called “The Watermelon Woman” is a pioneering film that blends documentary and fiction.  Dunye stars in her own film with a storyline that explores race\, sexuality\, and history through the lens of a young Black filmmaker’s search for an elusive actress from the 1930s. \nfrom Wikipedia: ““The Watermelon Woman” premiered at the 1996 Berlin International Film Festival. The film… is considered a landmark in New Queer Cinema. It garnered controversy for a [hot ass] lesbian sex scene that prompted a writer for The Washington Times to question its NEA funding\, which in turn led to the NEA restructuring their grant system. In 2021\, The Watermelon Woman was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being “culturally\, historically\, or aesthetically significant.”” \n This film is a must see.  \nwe’ll be screening indoors at splinter collective’s studio nueve (9) \n901 n. 13th ave. \nand\, because it’s in studio nueve\, seats are limited. \n18+ (“mature” language and nudity) \ndoors at 8pm \nscreening at 830pm \nID check at the door  \n😷we ask that you wear your mask properly in between sips and bites.  \nfree tickets for BIPOC only and sliding scale community tickets available \nGiveButter.com/Prideteenth \n  \nclickable link below!
